勝妙之證果也。佛果對於聲聞緣覺二乘之果及十地菩薩之果而謂之勝果。蓋二乘之果,非為圓滿,故是果而非勝。十地之法,未為圓滿,故是勝而非果。獨佛果為究竟圓滿之妙果,故曰勝果。見唯識述記一本。王僧孺懺悔禮佛文曰:「藉妙因於永劫。招勝果於茲地。」
The surpassing fruit, i.e. that of the attainment of Buddhahood, in contrast with Hīnayāna lower aims; two of these fruits are transcendent nirvāṇaand complete bodhi.
殊勝之果,即佛果。聲聞緣覺之果不圓滿,雖然是果但非勝,菩薩十地之法尚未圓滿,故雖勝而非果,只有佛果才是最究竟圓滿之果,所以稱為勝果。
