Virya，又作毘離耶，尾唎也。六度之一。譯曰精進，又曰勤。或曰忍辱。大乘義章十二曰：「毘離耶者，此云精進。練心於法，故說為精。精心務達，故稱為進。」法界次第下之上曰：「毘梨耶，秦言精進。欲樂勤行善法，不自放逸，謂之精進。」梵語雜名曰：「勤，尾唎也。」
