般若波羅蜜之古譯。般若譯曰明，波羅蜜譯曰度，又曰度無極，新譯般若曰慧，譯波羅蜜曰到彼岸。無極彼岸者，皆涅槃而名，渡生死海到達涅槃之無極，謂之度無極。一云到彼岸。
An old intp. of prajñā明pāramitā度, the wisdom that ferries to the other shore without limit; for which 明炬 a shining torch is also used.
