講經論。初大意，次題號，次入文解釋，分三段為例。大意者，論一部始終之綱要也。止觀一曰：「大意囊括始終冠戴初後。」說法明眼論曰：「若供養經律論等，必應有大意釋名科文三段。」同鈔上曰：「大意者，未入文前懸談教起因由一部綱要，釋名者次解名題也。科文者正入正文分三分科等。」 見大意經項。

一大意 (一)指經論之大體綱要。即一部經論中，初分大意，談教起因由及其綱要；次有題號，解釋名題；後始入文解釋。摩訶止觀卷一上（大四六‧四上）：「初釋大意，囊括始終，冠戴初後。」〔法明眼論鈔卷上〕 (二)十六開士之一。又作上慧、廣慧。係大乘佛教最初之在家菩薩之一，其族姓、事跡今已不詳。〔大智度論卷七〕（參閱「十六開士」559）p1166
