Upadhāna (adjective neuter) [from upa + dhā, cf. upadahati] "putting under", i.e. 1. a pillow, cushion D I 7; S II 267 = Miln 366 (kaḷiṅgar°); S III 145; A I 137, 181; III 50, Ja IV 201; V 506 (tamb° = ratt° commentary); 2. imposing giving, causing Dhp 291 dukkh°).
