Jana [°gene: see janati. Cf. Gr. , BR s.v. ; also cf. ajana, evidently unborn , BR 7.1689 ), kṛta tvayi hitakara bahuguṇa janato ( abl. , from birth ) LV 165.1 ( vs ), so text; but Tib. ḥgro la , evidently based on jagato, to (for) the world , dependent on hitakara; ( 2 ) strange, foreign , subst. stranger , Saundarānanda xv.31 , and cf. janī-bhavati, becomes a stranger , Buddhacarita vi.9 ; acc. to Johnston on Saund. , jana in this sense is ‘common in Buddhist Skt. ’, but I have not noted it.
