Bhaṭa [cf. Epic and Classical Sanskrit bhaṭa, from dialect bhaṭ to hire; originally the same as bhr̥tya from bhr̥ta and bhr̥ti of bhr̥ Dhātup 94, Dhātum 114. — bhaṭa = bhatyaṃ i.e. bhr̥tyaṃ] servant, hireling, soldier Miln 240; Vv-a 305 (bhattavetana°).
