又曰五種三昧：一、世間三昧，有漏之四禪八定也。二、聲聞三昧，四諦之法也。三、緣覺三昧，十二因緣之法也。四、菩薩三味，六度萬行之法也。五、佛三昧，一佛乘之法也。五種三昧即為五乘，是胎藏界三重曼荼羅之總體，如來秘密加持之法門也。故各修其法而與理相應，則皆得到於佛地。大日經疏七曰：「若更作深秘密釋者，如三重曼荼羅中五位三昧，皆是毘廬遮那秘密加持，其與相應者皆同一生成佛，何有淺深之殊。」
五種三昧 The five kinds of samādhi: (1) On mortality, the 四禪 and 八定; (2)śrāvakaon the four axioms; (3)pratyekabuddhaon the twelve nidānas; (4) bodhisattva on the 六度 and the 萬行; (5) Buddha on the one Buddha-vehicle, which includes all others; v. 五乘.
