Vivaṭṭeti [vi + vaṭṭeti] to turn down or away (perhaps in dogmatic sense to turn away from saṃsāra), to divert, destroy: only in phrase vivaṭṭayi saṃyojanaṃ (in standard setting with acchecchi taṇhaṃ), where the usual v.l. is vāvattayi (see vāvatteti).
