The Pāli form is not clear; it probably rests on dialect translation of a later term] a certain dissenting sect (see Mhv translation 259, note 2) in °vāda {579} heretic doctrine Mhv 36, 41; Dīp XXII, 45; -°vādin an adherent of this doctrine.
