<b> <c c="#a00149">Varuṇa</c> </b> <br>A king of the devas, mentioned as the companion of Sakka, Pajāpati and Isāna. In battle against the Asuras, the devas of Tāvatiṃsā were asked to look upon the banner of Varuṇa in order to have all their fears dispelled. <c c="#3b6bd3">SN.i.219</c> <br>In the Tevijja Sutta. <c c="#3b6bd3">DN.i.244</c> Varuṇa is mentioned with Indra, Soma, Isāna, Pajāpati, Yamaand Mahiddhi, as the gods invoked by brahmins.<br>In the Āṭānāṭiya Sutta <c c="#3b6bd3">DN.iii.204</c> he is mentioned with Indra and others as a Yakkha chief.<br> <br> </deftext>
