uttrāsana , n. (and adj. ?) (once in Skt. , Dhātup. , pw 2.295 , as n. act. ; not in Pali ; cf. AMg. uttāsaṇaa, °ṇaga, adj. , terrifying ), the act of frightening : Bbh 146.13 uttrāsanāvarjanena (dvandva), by frightening and propitiation ; 180.5 uttrāsanārhāṇāṃ sattvānām uttrāsanāya; ( adj. , or ifc. Bhvr. ?) Divy 604.2 -paramabhīṣaṇanirnādaṃ sakalajanottrāsanam, terrifying all people . Cf. next.
