(figurative) in all meanings of thaddha, applied to selfishness, obduracy, hypocrisy and deceit; viz. immobility, hardness, stupor, obstinacy (cf. German "verstockt"): thambho ti thaddha-bhāvo Pj II 288, 333; th. thambhanā thambhittaṃ kakkhaḷiyaṃ phārusiyaṃ ujucittatā (an°?) amudutā Vibh 350. — Often combined with māna (= arrogance), frequent in set sāṭheyyaṃ th. sārambho māno, etc. A I 100, 299 = Nidd II under rāga = Miln 289; cf.
