<b> <c c="#a00149">Tapodā</c> </b> <br>A large lake below the Vebhāra mountain, outside Rājagaha. The lake was cool, but the stream flowing from it, also called Tapodā, <c c="#3b6bd3">Vin.iii.108</c> <c c="#3b6bd3">Vin.iv.116f.</c> was hot. Around it was the Tapodārāma.<br>Monks and recluses were evidently in the habit of going to the Tapodā to bathe in the hot springs. Thus, we find Samiddhi being questioned by a deity as he dried himself after bathing in the Tapodā, <c c="#3b6bd3">SN.i.8ff.</c> <c c="#3b6bd3">MN.iii.192ff.</c> and the Aṅguttara Nikāya <c c="#3b6bd3">AN.v.196f.</c> records a discussion between Ānanda and the wanderer Kokanuda on the banks of the Tapodā, where they had gone to bathe.<br> <br>Location: <iref href="https://www.google.com/maps/search/25.012806,85.418256">25.012806,85.418256</iref> (Precision: 1, Type: lake)<br> </deftext>
