Samma 1 [as to etymology Andersen, PG II 263 quite plausibly connects it with Vedic śam (indeclinable) "hail," which is often used in a vocative sense, especially in combination śam ca yoś ca "hail and blessings", but also suggests relation to sammā. [Hi there!
