A term of grammar. The eight cases. There are eight cases in Tibetan grammar. The first case is called {ming tsam ngo bo}, i.e. the case of the name. Since this is not a case in the normal sense, it is sometimes said that there are seven cases {rnam bye bdun} in which case the first case is excluded
