A Purāṇa treats of five topics (or lakzaRAni ), and is hence often called paMcalakzaRa; sargaSca pratisargaSca vaMSo manvaMtarARi ca . vaMSAnucaritaM cEva purARaM paMcalakzaRaM .. . For the names of the 18 Purāṇas see under azwAdaSan . — RaH A coin equal to 80 cowries.
