Phalina (adjective) [from phala, phalin?] at Ja V 92 is of doubtful meaning. It cannot very well mean "bearing fruit," since it is used as epithet of a bird (°sakuṇī). The commentary explanation is sakuṇa-potakānaṃ phalinattā (being a source of nourishment?) phalina-sakuṇī. The vv.ll. (Sinhalese mss) is phalīna and palīna. {478}
