paṭimoka , or pati° , m. (= Skt. pratimoka, defined pw 5.260 das Umlegen, Umhängen , but may rather be concrete, an ornament fastened on ; certainly this is the mg. in BHS ), an ornament fastened on : caturṇāṃ varṇānāṃ paṭimokā (so mss. , Senart em. °modakā) abhunsuḥ suvarṇasya ca rūpyasya … Mv i.195.14 , of a city gate; so also iii.228.7 , where mss. and text pratimodakā, v.l. pati°; twice in Bhvr. cpds. , of elephants (hasti-sahasrāṇi), dantapatimokāni śuṇḍā-patimokāni (so Senart , essentially with mss. ) Mv ii.453.17 , with ornaments (garlands?) on their tusks and trunks .
