pUrvanimitta
pūrva-nimitta , nt. (= Pali pubba°), advance-sign , prognosticating something that is to happen in the future: °tāni LV 76.9 and 77.21 , of the 32 signs which precede and forecast the birth of the Bodhisattva (so also in Pali ); they are listed in detail between these two points in LV ; in Gv 373.20 ff. only ten pūrvanimittāni are listed as preceding the Bodhisattvaʼs birth; in Divy 193.20 of the five signs that a god is about to ‘fall’ (so also in Pali ); used (as also in Pali ) of dreams that foretell events, so LV 186.5 of Śuddhodanaʼs dream presaging the Bodhisattvaʼs retirement from the world; in Gv 375.2 ff. , ten pūrva-ni° occurred in the Lumbinī-grove when Māyā came out of Kapilavastu; in Gv 531.4 , ten precede the revealing of the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra (these are all esoteric, dealing with occurrences in Buddhakṣetras).
