Mala (neuter) [Vedic mala, see etymology under malina. Dhātum (395) only knows of one root mal or mall in meaning "dhāraṇa" supporting, thus thinking of māḷaka] anything impure, stain (literal and figurative), dirt. In the canon mostly figurative of impurities.
