? mahāśakya , adj. , mighty : °kya-mahāśakyā devatā MPS 5.3, 11 (contrasted with madhya, nīca). But Pali DN ii.87.2 mahesakkhā = maheśākhya , of which our word is prob. a folk- etym. alteration, tho well supported in the mss. , and despite Pali mahābhisakka ( Therag. 1111 ); Tib. mthu che ba mthu che ba ; cf. Mvy 6411 maheśākhyamaheśākhya ( Tib. dbaṅ [= mthu] che ba ).
