Maggati and (spurious) Mageti [denominative from magga, cf. Sanskrit margayati. Dhātup gives both mag and magg in meaning "anvesana," i.e. tracking, following up; see Dhātup Nos. 21, 540, 541] to track, hunt for, trace out, follow, seek M I 334 (present participle magayamana); S II 270 (present participle maggayamāna); Thig 384 (cf. Thig-a 255 = pattheti); Ja V 102 (where Text reads maggheyya, which is explained by commentary as vijjheyya to pierce, hurt, and which is doubtful in meaning, although Kern, Toev. sub voce defends it. The v.l. reads magg°. Same on page 265 where one ought to read phasseyya in commentary instead of passeyya.
