indeclinable
possible; allowable; may be obtained
Labbhā (indeclinable) [best to be taken, with Pischel, Pkt Gr. §465, as an old optative 3rd singular, like sakkā which corresponds to Vedic śakyāt. Thus labbhā = *labhyāt, as in Māgadhī] allowable, possible (with infinitive); usually negative (thus = prohibitive!) Snp 393 na l. phassetuṃ; Pj II page 376 explains by "sakkā"), 590; Pv II 6 10 ; Ja I 64 (na l. tayā pabbajituṃ), 145 (the same), Pv-a 96 (= laddhuṃ sakkā).
