Gaṇa [Vedic gaṇa; °ger to comprise, hold, or come together, cf. Greek ἀγείρω to collect ἀγορά meeting, Latin grex, flock, Sanskrit jarante "conveniunt" (see Wackernagel, Altind. Gram. I 193). Another form of this root is grem in Sanskrit grāma, Latin gremium; see under gāma] 1.
