Domanassa (neuter) [Sanskrit daurmanasya, duḥ + manas] distress, dejectedness, melancholy, grief. As mental pain (cetasikaṃ asātaṃ cet. dukkhaṃ S V 209 = Nidd II §312; cf. D II 306; Nett 12) opposed to dukkha physical pain: see dukkha B III 1 a). A synonym of domanassaṃ is appaccaya (q.v.). For definition of the term see Vism 461, 504.
