Daṇḍa [Vedic daṇḍa, dialect = °dal[d]ra; (on ṇ : l cf. guṇa: guḷa etc.) to °del as in Sanskrit dala, dalati. Cf. Latin dolare to cut, split, work in wood; delere to destroy; Greek δαίδαλον work of art; Mhg. zelge twig; zol a stick.
