Bhāvanīya (adjective) [gerundive from bhāveti, but taken by Buddhaghosa as gerundive formation from bhāvanā] "being as ought to be," to be cultivated, to be respected, in a self-composed state (cf. bhāvitatta) M I 33 (garu + ; explained by Buddhaghosa as "addhā'yam āyasmā jānaṃ jānāti passaṃ passatī ti evaṃ sambhāvanīyo" Ps I 156); S V 164; A III 110; Miln 373; Pv-a 9.
