Avapakāsati [ava + pa + kāsati = kassati, from kr̥̥ṣ] is a doubtful compound of kassati, the combined ava + pa occurring only in this word. In all likelihood it is a distortion of vavakassati (vi + ava + kassati), supplementing the ordinary apakassati.
