謂由果推因，由末究本之喻法。例如大海有本謂大河，大河有本謂小河，小河有本謂大池等。八喻法之一。見涅槃經二十九，三藏法數三十二。
Argument by illustration from effect to cause, e.g. the source of the ocean is the river, of the river the streams, of these the ponds.
