Arhat（N．sg．m．Arhān），阿羅漢之略。小乘之極果也。見阿羅漢條。

羅漢總目錄 梵語Arhat（阿羅漢），簡稱「羅漢」，一般意譯為「殺賊」、「不生」等。意思是：羅漢已經殺盡煩惱之賊，不再生到三界六道之中，從而證到小乘的最高果位，入「無餘涅槃」了。在「聲聞四果」中，羅漢是最高果位；但在四聖位中，羅漢還是初位，次於緣覺、菩薩和佛。經中說，有些大阿羅漢實際上是不入涅槃的菩薩，示現羅漢身在世間利樂眾生，民間祀奉的，多屬於這類大阿羅漢。如唐·司空圖《十會齋文》：「維摩赴會，捧瑞露以同沾，羅漢飛空，曳危峰而亦至。」（李明權）
