八寒地獄之第七。梵名鉢特摩Padma，譯曰紅蓮。為寒而皮肉分裂如紅蓮華也。瑜伽論四曰：「紅蓮那落迦，與此差別，過此青已，色變紅赤。皮膚分裂，或十或多。故此那落迦，名曰紅蓮。」俱舍光記十一曰：「鉢特摩，此云紅蓮華。嚴寒逼切，身變折裂，如紅蓮華。」
The red lotus hell, the seventh of the eight cold hells, where the flesh of the sufferers bursts open like red lotuses.
八寒地獄之第七，因其處寒冷皮肉分裂如紅蓮花，故名。
