chán mén wǔ zōng
皆六祖之後。臨濟宗，溈仰宗，雲門宗，法眼宗，曹洞宗也。法眼流入高麗，溈仰至石晉時已亡。今惟雲門曹洞臨濟存。而臨濟尤盛。
Five Chan schools, viz. 臨濟宗; 溈仰宗; 雲門宗; 法眼宗, and 曹洞宗; the fourth was removed to Korea; the second disappeared; the other three remained, the first being most successful; in the Sung it divided into the two sects of 楊岐 and 黃龍. Cf. 楞 13 Laṅkāvatāra Sutra.
