法身之異名也，佛三身中報化二佛為事佛，法身佛為理佛。是通途之義也。 台家所立六即佛中之理即佛也。三惡之眾生，亦具法性之理，與佛無異，是為理佛。又稱素法身，唯具法身之理體而無功德之莊嚴也。天台觀經疏曰：「言眾生即是佛，理佛也。」
The fundamental or intrinsic Buddha, i.e. the dharmakāya; also the Tiantai doctrine of Buddha as immanent in all beings, even those of the three lowest orders; which doctrine is also called 素法身 the plain, or undevelopeddharmakāya.
