Upavasatha，巴Uposatha，譯為齋日，增長。起世因本經七曰：「一一月中，有六烏晡沙他。」注曰：「隋言增長，謂受持齋法，增長善根。」即六齋日也。同經十曰：「烏逋沙他，隋言齋戒。」異譯經二曰：「隋言潔齋。」見布薩條。梵文多用Poṣadha之俗字故有增長之譯。
Upavasaṭha (Pali, Uposatha). A fast-day, originally in preparation for the brahminical somasacrifice; in Buddhism there are six fast-days in the month.
