běnjiāo
二教之一。末教之對。根本之教，一乘教也。
The fundamental doctrine, i. e. of the One Vehicle as declared in the Lotus Sutra, also 根本之教.

一本教 謂根本之教。為二教之一。全稱「稱性本教」，與「逐機末教」相對。即指華嚴別教一乘之法門。據道亭所著同義苑疏之釋言，別教一乘乃直顯本法，而為眾典之共源，故稱本教。〔華嚴五教章卷一乘教開合〕（參閱「二教」316）p2485
根本的教法，如一乘教是，為二教之一。
