又云無患子。木樹能辟邪鬼，故名無患。其實可以為念珠，謂之木槵子。梵名阿梨瑟迦紫Ariṣṭa，千手合藥經曰：「若有行人欲降諸大力鬼神者，取阿梨瑟迦紫，咒三七徧，火中燒。」註曰：「阿梨瑟迦紫者，木槵子是也。」崔豹古今註曰：「一名無患，昔有神巫名寶眊，能符劾百鬼。得鬼，以此棒殺之，世人以此木為眾鬼所畏，故名無患也。」
無患子 A tree whose wood can exorcise evil spirits, or whose seeds are used as rosary-beads. It is said to be the ariṣṭa阿梨瑟迦紫, which means unharmed, secure; it is the name of the soap-berry and other shrubs.
