禪宗以心傳心之宗曰教外，依自餘佛之聲教之宗云教內，見教外條。
Within instruction; in the sect or church; especially those who receive normal instruction from the written canon, opposite of 教外.
禪宗以心傳心，不立文字的教法，叫做教外，其他佛的聲教，有文字可循的，都叫做教內。
