又,謂之大方廣。大乘經之通名。言所說之義理方正平等也。於方等部中為最上,是大方等也。閱藏知津二曰:「方等亦名方廣,於十二分教中十一並通大小,此唯在大。」
Mahāvaipulya or vaipulya 大方廣; 毘佛略. They are called 無量義經 sutras of infinite meaning, or of the infinite; first introduced into China by Dharmarakṣa (A.D.266―317). The name is common to Hīnayāna and Mahayana, but chiefly claimed by the latter for its special sutras as extending and universalizing the Buddha's earlier preliminary teaching. v. 大方廣 and 方等.
又名大方廣,即所說的道理不但廣大方正而且平等。
