三衣之一。袈裟者。縫綴數條之布帛作長方之幅者也。安陀會橫有五條。故名五條袈裟。其全體之大，若依四分宗則長四肘，即七尺二寸，廣二肘，即三尺六寸。見行事鈔資持記下一之一。
(五條) The monk' s robe of five patches or lengths, also termed 下衣 as the lowest of the grades of patch-robes. It is styled 院內道行雜作衣 the garment ordinarily worn in the monastery, when abroad and for general purposes; also written 五帖袈裟、五條衣.
